NFS and 100 MBit/sec Full duplex makes trouble

First i must admit that my experience with switches is practically
zero.

The following configuration:

bononunu:
linux 2.0.29 with 3Com 905 and nfsd 2.2beta23 is connected
via 100 MBit/sec full duplex ethernet to the 100 MBit/sec full duplex
port of a 3Com switch (but they are cheap) and full duplex on the
switch port is enabled.

loki:
linux 2.1.54 with 3Com 509 PCI connected via a hub to port 1 of the
switch:

elias:
linux 2.0.27 with 3Com 509 PCI connected via a hub to port 2 of the
switch

gams:
linux 2.0.17 with nfsd 2.2beta23 with 3Com PCI connected via a hub to
port 2 of the switch

testing NFS with bonnie gives the following results:
NFS traffic from loki to bononunu is okay.
NFS traffic from elias to bononunu is _not_ okay.
NFS traffic from eliad to gams is okay.

but running bonnie on loki and elias concurrently gies good NFS
traffic for both clients.

Any clues?
