I've avoided contributing to this thread (since it isn't directly
related to Linux kernel developmentk) for a while, but I guess I'll
break silence.

This is one of the reasons that LI exists. If you want to contribute
to Linux development, LI hosts a Development Fund, the Linux International
Development Grant Fund, or "LIDGF". People who need money send in
requests, and then if the request is reasonable and within the fund's
charter, it is granted. At the moment, we only pay for hardware,
software, and documentation. We haven't paid for time so far, although
we're willing to consider exceptions to that rule.

Projects which we have granted money to have included Linux/PPC,
LessTif, and lockd/statd development. (My list is at home, so I
can't give a complete list here.)

If you wish to contribute to the LIDGF (US funds are by far the easiest
for us to handle), make your check out to Linux International, and mail
it to:
Linux International
80 Amherst Street
Amherst, NH 03031-3032
and earmark it for the LIDGF.

If you have a need for a grant, visit the LI web site,,
where you can find out how to send in a request.
