I still have a problem I am trying to isolate:

System (home): Pentium 120, Adaptec 2940U (BIOS v1.21), 16MB RAM

System (work): Pentium 66, Adaptec 2940 (BIOS v1.11), 32MB RAM

I can run 1.3.59 on both machines; I get periodic NULs in files at work.

I can run 1.3.64 at home (works great!). If I try to run 1.3.64 at work, the
SCSI bus locks up during the partition check; sometimes I will get a message
"aic7xxx: Device busy" scrolling as fast as the hardware will let it, other
times it just stops after printing "sda:" with the SCSI-active light on. The
system does not respond to a three-finger-salute, and I have to hold the reset
button in for a couple seconds to reset the SCSI bus.

On the assumption that there was a BIOS (or other) problem in the SCSI card, I
swapped the card with a new one from my local PC supplier (BIOS v1.16); I get
the same results with it.

If I remember right, when this first started I brought my 2940U from home into
work, put it in the work machine, and the problem went away (which is why I
decided to get the board replaced).

I just grabbed a copy of 1.3.68 to try, just in case some changes had been made
to the aic7xxx code. I am more than willing to try any patches anyone wants to
toss my way to try to fix the problem.
