The ISDN-subsystem has been developed seperately since 1.2.5 (or so) always
keeping track of the kernel. It touches original kernel-code only at two
places: drivers/char/mem.c (call to initialization) and init/main.c
(code for commandline-parameters). If in doubt of how stable it is, simply
say No at configuration-time and you get a 100% ISDN-less kernel.
