No...I was desparate for a fix...so I bcc:'d the message to several
relavent lists...but didn't want replies crossposted.

Thanks for the patch...unfortunately, I already had it...and had
already applied it to the kernel in question. It doesn't appear to be
the problem.

The odd thing is I found a solution...but still don't know the problem. I
used screen to grab the hung tty (so people could actually log into the
system) and started sending control characters to the tty after having
tried many other things. Sending xon (Ctrl-a q in screen) to the tty
unfroze it. Any idea why...or how to prevent it from happening again?
