kmsgdump not SMP-safe ?

I had a lockup under X with 2.2.15pre17 on a SMP box.
Since I could not get any oops or anything else, I decided to try
kmsgdump 0.4.1. After patching the kernel and fixing the two trivial
mispatches, I've tried to test kmsgdump by panic()ing the kernel with
a little panicmodule.o.

Out of 5 panic() tries, kmsgdump was able to do something only once.
The four other times, kmsgdump either:
   - Printed "disabling sumetric I/O mode. Last chance for SysRQ" and
     then got stuck.
or - Caused an oops (available).

This was on a two-CPU box.

Is kmsgdump SMP-safe ?

Phil.
