direct partition access, Flash ROM, NVRAM, frame buffers (which could be
accessed after a soft-reboot given they are not initialized). I thought
about this before and even might have some lines of code left. The best
solution however was a debugger in SMM RAM.

Most of this needs BIOS support though.
