Hello;

It is clear from the number of responses I have received that
there is a desire in the community for more than one particular
mainboard design there are several.

1. mainboards
a. Singleboard Computer
b. AT form factor
c. ATX form factor
d. CHRP/ATX form factor
e. Compact PCI form factor
f. NLX form factor
2. OpenPIC support for AMD, PowerPC, and Cyrix.
3. Multiple processor support dual is nice quad would be great
4. Serial BIOS; ability to run headless
5. Remote BIOS updates
6. Dual 10/100 ethernet built-in.

I am hoping to have a Web Page up this week concerning the
hardware design effort.

I have also received numerous suggestions as to which
chip sets to avoid and which chip sets to investigate further.

There is one area that needs to be clarified.
I have had several people question how is effort was going to
be funded.

The answer is very simple.
To avoid any possibility of the appearance of conflict of interest
concerning the designs I am funding this entire effort out
of my own funds. I am not looking for any funding from any
hardware vendors, manufacturers, etc. I am not looking for
funding via "membership" fees, association fees, any type of
fees.

I am still working through how hardware beta testing will be handled.
I am open to suggestions. It has been suggested that the prototypes
be built at separate locations, one in Europe and one in North America.
This would significantly reduce shipping, handling, and custom fees.

My lawyers are working on the hardware version of the GNU GPL.
Once they are done it will be sent off to various people for
their review and input.
