There's another fundamental problem with the BogoMIPS stuff.

It assumes that the processor clock rate is a constant. Some laptops
will downshift the CPU clock to conserve power. I've got one report
of a system that alternately reports BogoMIPS values of around 100, or
around 400. On such a system, any constant delay loop is broken.
