2.1.119pre1 crashes randomly (& nfs issues)

I have a few machines running 2.1.119pre1. One of them stalled today (no
network responsivness, console would accept and show keyboard input, but
wouldn't act upon it (login, etc.)) The only messages in syslog were about
the automounter:

Sep 11 11:29:31 deci automount[374]: attempting to mount entry /test/util
Sep 11 11:35:31 deci automount[26170]: expired /test/util
Sep 11 12:05:26 deci automount[401]: attempting to mount entry /home/cloutier
Sep 11 12:06:36 deci automount[374]: attempting to mount entry /test/util
Sep 11 14:10:22 deci syslogd 1.3-3: restart.
Sep 11 14:10:22 deci kernel: klogd 1.3-3, log source = /proc/kmsg started.
Sep 11 14:10:22 deci kernel: Cannot find map file.
Sep 11 14:10:22 deci kernel: No module symbols loaded - kernel modules not
enabl

This isn't really enough information for me to expect an pin point answer, but
are there any suggestions as to what I should be looking for, or ways to maybe
log what is happening without having logs for anything/everything that is
happening?

As for the NFS issues ... I get these messages on all the Linux boxes
(119pre1 and 120 w/ knfsd-980907 installed):

nfs_lookup_revalidate: sudo.v1.5.6b2/config.h.in inode mismatch, old=958893,
new=431056
__nfs_fhget: inode 431060 busy, i_count=2, i_nlink=1
nfs_free_dentries: freeing sudo.v1.5.6b2/config.log, i_count=2
nfs_dentry_delete: sudo.v1.5.6b2/config.log: ino=431060, count=2, nlink=1
nfs_lookup_revalidate: error=-2

Things seem to be running ok, but should I be worrying about these messages?

Thanks.
