I too can reproduce the stall encounter with ppp and other networks. I
think that the TCP congestion window in linux 2.1.x is broken. The
results of my tests can be found at

I did post this out a couple of days ago, sorry for the repeat but I
think Jeff's first problem is due to the broken congestion window and it
was worth repeating in this thread.
