That means you are running the old smbmount from the smbfs package.

To use smbfs and the 2.1.x kernels, you need the newer smbmount
from the samba package. They are not the same animals and the syntax
is different between the two. This makes for a really delightful time
if you are dual booting between a 2.0.x kernel and a 2.1.x kernel and/or
you are using autofs...

You can check out a script I wrote for doing the parameter parsing
and translations on the fly based on the version of the booted kernel.

Warning to everyone using the CVS checkout of Samba or the 2.0.0a*...
The autoconf rearrangement for configuring samba has lost the smbmount,
smbmnt, and smbumount programs. Till that's fixed, you will need to retrieve
these programs and compile them with the 1.9.x package.
