obvious question re: pause/yield thread

(Sorry, I was a little too quick with the $ button to reply to the thread.)

Since you're already using shared memory between these processes, and since
what I remember of the problem description sounded like n processes in a
chain of n-1 producer-consumer relationships, I must ask the obvious
question:

Have you considered semaphores?
