v2.1.108 and /dev/dsp

Err.. what's happened to the /dev/dsp device? I can't find the
configuration to switch it on in the sound drivers?

Now one of my wavplay stuff reports, "Operation not permitted by device",
even though I have crwxrwxrwx set on this dev/dsp.
