A me-too:
I used to have (until I sold it) an Octek 688 8x speed CDROM, which
was systematically identified as 2x speed:
hdd: OTI-SCYLLA, ATAPI CDROM drive
hdd: ATAPI 2X CDROM drive w/240kB Cache
Which was obviously wrong. I think the speed detection code doesn't
work much reliably - there are CDROMs that either report wrong speed,
or none at all I guess.
