Zombied nfsoid processes?

I have a machine which keeps crashing under 2.0.33, so I decided that I was
going to move it to a development kernel. I was upgrading this and that and
noticed this:

root 4 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 17:33 0:00 (nfsiod <zombie>)
root 5 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 17:33 0:00 (nfsiod <zombie>)
root 6 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 17:33 0:00 (nfsiod <zombie>)
root 7 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 17:33 0:00 (nfsiod <zombie>)

Is this normal? I run an NFS server (userspace daemon, not kernel) and it
just seems odd that I'd have something like this.

procps version 1.2.6
linux 2.0.33
gcc version pgcc-2.91.08 980214 (gcc-2.8.0 release)
