Problems with Pioneer CD changer on 2.1.87

Is anybody aware of a problem supporting a Pioneer SCSI-2 CD changer
(DRM-604X) on 2.1.87? I have this connected to my NCR810 card (using the
"CONFIG_SCSI_NCR53C7xx" driver with all options enabled- sync, fast SCSI,
allow disconnect) as well as a hard disk. My SCSI disk is detected
properly, but when it probes the changer, I get a large dump of SCSI
messages (to come later...) and the boot hangs. I also have the "probe
all LUNs" enabled in the kernel.
