2.1.x and smbfs

I've been playing around with smbfs in kernel 2.1.76 for a few hours now,
and I cannot seem to get the damn thing to mount. I've recompiled
smbclient with the patch from the smbfs version recommended in smbfs.txt,
and I've stuffed around trying to get smbmount/smbumount to compile with
glibc2. After all that, I get the following from smbclient..

Added interface ip=192.168.0.1 bcast=192.168.0.255 nmask=255.255.255.0
Unknown socket option TCP_NODELAY

Password:
smb: \> mount /home/mp3
mount error: Operation not supported by device
Please look at smbmount's manual page for possible reasons
mount failed

There is probably some fundamental error on my behalf preventing this from
working, but really everything should be a lot easier than this. Why not
just revert back to a stand alone smbmount and just be done with it.. or
call it mount.smbfs, or do something! :)

Any chance of an updated smbmount that actually works? Or even a package
with smbclient and smbmount binaries in it?

Is it going to stay like this for 2.2? I sure hope not.. :P Someone
please let us know what is being done about the smbfs mount tools.

Dave.

PS. If it makes any difference, smbfs works for me in 2.0.3[2-3]
