Yes, the new IDE modes seem to be aiming to make IDE more and more
like SCSI. However, it is still, AFAIK, an at least partially
unterminated bus limited to about 50 cm in length.

I guess I don't really understand the quest to turn IDE into SCSI,
especially since SCSI is *still* very much more versatile than IDE; I
have yet to see an IDE scanner...
