I recieved the error message in the subject today when I tried to login
via the local console as root.

I can currently log in as any of the other user accounts but not root for
some reason.

I remember seeing some messages in here a short while ago about the kernel
having problems with some permissions I believe about 2 weeks ago at the
most, and I was wondering if anyone could help point me to a digest or
similar that I can look through to see if those messages answer my
question (or answer my question telling me it is fixed in the next
version... -grin-)

Any other relevent information can be provided as at the moment I am sorry
to say I do not know what would be relevent information.

Currently downloading the pre-patch-2.1.37.gz and pre-patch-2.1.37-2.gz
files from ftp.kernel.org to see if these help any...
