bootup errors with klogd

Does anyone know off-hand how to fix the following errors:

Apr 16 05:12:42 ricker syslogd 1.3-3: restart.
Apr 16 05:12:42 ricker kernel: klogd 1.3-3, log source = /proc/kmsg started.
Apr 16 05:12:43 ricker kernel: Error in symbol table input.
Apr 16 05:12:43 ricker kernel: Cannot find map file.
Apr 16 05:12:43 ricker kernel: Error seeking in /dev/kmem
Apr 16 05:12:43 ricker kernel: Error adding kernel module table entry.

This was taken from bootup of 2.1.35, but I believe first started
around 2.1.29 or so. I've noticed it and more-or-less ignored it as
not terribly important, but I've since gotten a couple of emails asking
how to fix it....
