the objdump problem is encaps related.
however the --iob problem when scripts run seems to be specific
to ld.so.1.8.10. it prevented me from logging on.
moving forward to ld.so.1.9.1 is a good move but there are some other
incongruities such as what get searched first that seem to crop up.
