1) filesystem I/O performance SCREAMS. 128 MB sequential write +
fsync (on 32 MB RAM) now runs at 5.9 MB/sec vs. 5.7 in 1.3.83. Read
performance is now 6.1 vs. 5.4. What's more, the CPU time is now
