I just finished installing my new GigaByte Pentium 100 motherboard and
was finetuning the hd access. After this i tried a make dep in the linux
kernel directory and recieved the following message

Feb 23 01:10:26 panasync kernel: Whoops: unlock_buffer: async io complete
on unlocked page
Feb 23 01:10:26 panasync kernel: Whoops: unlock_buffer: async io complete
on unlocked page

The make dep was then locked and was unable to complete.

I then tried to send this mail message. Suddenly I recieved another message
as above and the console was completely locked. I had to use the reset
button in order to reboot. Of course fsck ran on reboot and found a
filesystem inconsistancy and dropped to a file system repair mode. I
manually ran e2fsck and it complained that the superblock was corrupt, so I
tried a bunch of other superblocks by adding 8192 to 1 and the same result
was had for all of the ones I tried. On a lark I decided to try a differant
kernel to try and fix it so I rebooted to 1.3.57. e2fsck then fixed the
error and I rebooted once again to everything normal on 1.3.68
Hope this description helps someone, sure had me going for a minute.
