A few weeks back, I remember someone posting a patch to make the serial
driver in Linux able to be modular/disabled. Why has Linus not added it?
(huh Linus?)
I now have no serial devices in my machine (using a Cyclades card for
everything) and think it is a waste of memory to have support for
something I do not even use. Is there any posix specification that
specifies that serial support must be non-togglable? Does anyone else
have any comments on this?
