AKAIK I'm the first to be annoyed by the current scheme to the
point of doing something about it.
As it is a fundamental change, I've been trying to gather input
and design a system that meets everybody's hopes and dreams.
I've even designed it to be backwards compatible, though
Plug-and-Play will never work until everybody converts,
which is a pretty trivial job.
Then I have to convince Linus to use it.
