1.3.21 module symbols undefined

I got through my ELF compile difficulties with 1.3.21 and now have a
bootable kernel. All was originally okay, but at 0200 things get a
little fuzzy. Thanks to those who responded.

The kernel is configured with ethernet (SMC Ultra) and PPP; it is also
set up for module support so I can load several dummy modules to run
virtual Web servers.

The kernel boots fine, but when insmod tries to load the dummy modules
they fail; the following are the few failure messages that I managed to
clip from the top of the screen.

75f860fa undefined
sprintf_Rf9003107 undefined
register_netdev_R57df349b undefined
printk_Rad1148ba undefined
unregister_netdev_R0abffb56 undefined
SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
SIOCADDRT: Network is unreachable
SIOCSARP: Network is unreachable

I have done a "make modules_install", and "depmod -a" runs in rc.inet1
just before loading the dummy modules, so any dependencies should have
been noted. depmod reports many modules with unresolved symbols, in fact.

Has this been resolved and I missed the thread (very possible???) I will
keep digging into this, but any help given is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Michael
