apm support for 2.4.0

I finally concluded that acpi is wrongly concluding that my IBM 380XD
has adequate support for acpi. I reconfigured to turn off acpi and left
my old working with 2.2.13 apm choices in place. I got apmd-3.0final,
installed it and booted 2.4.0-test6-pre2. Modprobe found apm and apmd
got started fine.
apm -s suspended the the machine normally. When I tried to bring it
back, the screen came back, but the keyboard was dead. I did a hard
reset, and on boot lpd told me that my printcap was not readable. I
could not even rm /etc/printcap. I rebooted to pre1 with acpi, and
printcap was back.
I tried pre2 again, but when I went to connect with ppp, it could not
find /etc/resolv.conf.
Reboot to 2.2.13 and resolv.conf was back, and apm works fine.
m'thinks there's a problem.
