I don't know the reason for the change. But so what? You should
never rely on or care which tty is assigned to a PCMCIA device. There
has never been a guarantee that the tty would be the same even from
one boot to the next. That's why you should instead use the link to
/dev/modem instead; that will always point to the right device.
