No change, from before. The card times out, but otherwise the system
functions normally without connectivity.

This looks like it's on the right track, doing "cardctl status 0" I get:
5V 16-bit PC Card
function 0: [busy], [bat dead], [bat low]
With the card working properly I get:
3.3V CardBus card
function 0: [ready]
Also, just noticed when the pcmcia driver is unloaded after the card times
out the following debug is printed, the address is always the same:
Trying to free nonexistent resource <03e0-03e1>
