        hi,

i've just read rfc1122, and it states that a station only
receives a packet with its destination address or broadcast
        address.

on linux i can ping my network address, and all linux boxes
reply the ping. i only have linux and windows btw.
        windows always drops broadcast packets.
so some kids start to think that network address is just like
broadcast address. sunos btw, has the same feature as linux.

i know dhcp/bootp uses the feature. but my understanding from the
rfc says that the feature isn't correct, or have i missed
        something?

windows' ping said that network address is an invalid destination.
shouldn't everyone who needs send to a network address use
        af_socket instead?

                imel
