aic7xxx interrupts out of control with ac22-riel compared to ac19

When going from ac19 to ac22-riel, I noticed aic7xxx interrupts going
out of control. In ac19 I see something like

      17: 1703 1685 IO-APIC-level aic7xxx
      18: 28 33 IO-APIC-level aic7xxx

but in ac22-riel the interrupts for 18 were way higher than even NMI.
The machine is a Dell Precision 620 with a 7899 dual-channel SCSI. I
believe the disk is on interrupt 17 and the cdrom on 18. The thing is I
wasn't doing any CD-ROM access. I have aic7xxx compiled into the kernel
(not modular).

Is there more information I can provide?
