Okay, so then it wasn't your text that I read ;-) Anyway, the whole
chain of tools is (or at least was) also described on the Maxtor Web
pages.

I guess I would have to send you a video tape of me typing in commands
and moving jumpers but getting nowhere ;-) Anyway, it doesn't matter -
I suspect that I may just have the rare combination of BIOS and drive
firmware revision that's a little worse than just wrong. In case
somebody else runs into this or a similar problem, we know one more
work-around to try.
