        On linux-2.4.0-test1ac__, I thought that I had stabilized the
two different VIA chipset motherboards that I had tried by disabling
CONFIG_VIA82CXXX_TUNING; however, I see now that there have been a
number of failures since then with errors like:

hda: irq timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy }
ide0: reset: success
ll_rw_block: device f1:b8: only 1024-char blocks implemented (4096)
ll_rw_block: device f1:b8: only 1024-char blocks implemented (4096)
EXT2-fs error (device ide0(3,2)): ext2_write_inode: unable to read inode block - inode=97246, block=196614
Remounting filesystem read-only

        Here is the output of lspci on this machine:

00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C691 [Apollo PRO] (rev 44)
00:01.0 PCI bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C598 [Apollo MVP3 AGP]
00:07.0 ISA bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C596 ISA [Apollo PRO] (rev 12)
00:07.1 IDE interface: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C586 IDE [Apollo] (rev 06)
00:07.3 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc.: Unknown device 3050 (rev 20)
00:10.0 Ethernet controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT86C100A [Rhine 10/100] (rev 06)
00:12.0 VGA compatible unclassified device: S3 Inc. 86c964 [Vision 964 VRAM] vers 0

        Anyhow, I thought I should document this on linux-kernel, so
anyone with similar hardware can be aware of it.
