/dev/funkey?

I've been hacking into the keyboard code to have the multimedia keys
on my Logitech keyboard (and a few others as well) to work. For this,
I implemented a char device from which an external program reads the
event and carries out the necessary action.

But I keep hearing of a funkey patch for 2.2.X and 2.3.x, which seems
to be doing the quite the same thing. The problem is, I cannot find it
anywhere, even after hours of searching. Does someone know where I can
find it?
