This is a very simple test, but it may be usefull to evaluate some
of the last proposed VM patches. Right now, I'm running Andrea's
classzone with very good results as you may see below. The test consists
of creating a ISO image from a cd (650MB) on a Celeron 500 / 192MB RAM.
My cdr drive read data at 8X. During image creation I have also started
(for the first time after boot) a instance of netscape communicator to
evaluate the responsiveness of the system.

System configs:
    #1) 2.2.14-5.0 (stock kernel from RH6.2)
    #2) 2.3.99-pre6 (no patchs applied)_
#3) 2.3.99-pre6-vmfix; (vmfix patch from Rik with semicolon)
    #4) 2.3.99-pre7-8-classzone-27 (latest Andrea classzone)

                    #1 #2 #3 #4

reading speed 1155kb/s 650kb/s 990kb/s 1170kb/s
(max=1200kb/s)

Besides the similar results for #1 and #4, the usability (mouse and
system response to user commands was better with classzone-27 than
2.2.14.

Miguel Freitas
