Agreed.

Because XML isn't easy for humans to read. Yes it's possible, but not
at all easy on the eye. Isn't that the point of this thread?

You can define an easy to read, consistent, XML-equivalent syntax. It's
not as straightforwardly useful for web browsers, but do we care?
