I can't comment on the 1 instruction program from userland nobody but
I can comment on very positive Linux uptimes. The following is an
excerpt from one of my 'star pupils':

8:48am up 244 days, 1:02, 2 users, load average: 0.01, 0.03, 0.00 Proc: 2932040
The Proc: field is something that I hacked into uptime. It reads a
process counter in the Linux kernel. We should roll over the 3
million process mark sometime this week.
The workstation in question services the pharmacy in the Roger Maris
Cancer Center. This particular box runs our clinical information
support system on top of X about 18 hours a day.
It is also one of the 'pivot' points in our peer-to-peer distribution
system. It runs enough UUCP processes to generate about 12-15
megabytes of logfiles a month.
Fairly outstanding performance for something that I got for free to
run on a 4.5 year old 80386... :-)
