OK, I have done so. I finally got an oops, and had someone write it down
and fax it to me (I am not at the site usually), so there might be some
typos in it.

Brief summary: machines on 2.2.x crash irregulary when a webserver is
enabled in this particular setup. Behaviour: after a while the machine
start generating a lot of disk access (swapping?), and then it just
suddenly dies, nothing on the screen. We run apache 1.3.9, but the same
behaviour has been seen with Mathopd. This is probably not too hardware
related, as we have replaced the current box (HP Kayak SMP, running
uniprocessor kernel) with a brandnew HP Netserver 60, fresh install of
RH6.0, and saw identical behaviour. We have since migrated all other
services (smtp, pop3, ftp) to this Netserver, and it has an uptime of 69
days today. Stable as a rock. The Kayak running the webserver crashes -
sometimes 12 (!) times a day, sometimes it takes 3 days to go down. These
machines serve as mail/web server for 34000 people approximately, with only
about 8000 of them having webpages.
We've tried 3com 3c905B Cyclone and Intel Etherexpress NICS, the webserver
currently running the former. Both machines are behind a FW-1 firewall on
an NT (bweek, not my decision...), which does not do transparent proxying
for them. I wonder if this thing has somehow something to do with it...

The actual oops is at the bottom of this message.

All the relevant info follows... If you need more, just contact me.

Ward.
