Catching NOT_READY in rw_intr to me looked like the best way to do that.
But I just got told recent high end scsi drivers tend to bypass the
midlayer, so is there a more generic approach?

Okay. Spinup's not on my top priority list so I'll wait for the changes to
settle, hoping they'll not only change but also clarify things.
