2.3.28 cs4232 problems in 2.3.x

My cs4232 sound card works great under 2.2, but it flakes out under
2.3... specifically, it plays fine for around 30-60 seconds, then starts
playing each chunk around 3 times over, then skipping to the next chunk
(that's what it sounds like)...

After clearing out all sound-related modules...

Any ideas? I've re-checked the passed module param with pnpdump
and sndconfig, and they worked great under 2.2 (2.2.11-ac3 latest tried)

options cs4232 io=0x534 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0 mpuio=0x330 mpuirq=5
