i686, egcs-19991013, binutils-2.9.5.0.16

Booted 2.3.22 init=/bin/bash (2.3.22pre[12] hang on me in
loadkeys). showTasks shows many modprobes running (???). Running ps(1)
crashes for no /proc. Mount /proc, run ps(1) again and get:

Kernel bug at sched.c:573
invalid operand 000

After that, hard hang. Copied Oops by hand and run through ksymoops:

ksymoops 0.7c on i686 2.3.20. Options used
