bug: 2.3.21, nfsd stuck in disk wait

Standard 2.3.21 x86 .config and compile options, RedHat 6.0
distribution, egcs 1.1.2.

Mounting from a 2.2.5-RH remote host causes all nfsd processes to get
stuck in disk wait.
