Lock-up on boot, Kernel 2.3.18-ac2

Stays Crunchy in Milk (rakr@home.com)

After installing kernel 2.3.18-ac2 SMP, running make mrproper, copying
my old config back in and running make oldconfig, I compiled the kernel
and installed it. Now, when my computer boots, it gets to the stage of
detecting my SCSI card (AHA 2940 UW), detects the devices on the SCSI
bus, then hangs. The system still responds to CTRL-ALT-DEL, so it's not
a lockup.

My system: Asus P2L-97-DS Motherboard (no on-board SCSI)
Dual PII - 266 MHZ
Adaptec AHA 2940-UW PCI SCSI Card BIOS 2.20.0 (detected fine)
2 Seagate SCSI Hard Disks (both detected fine)
Iomega SCSI Zip Drive (detected fine)
Toshiba 40x SCSI CD-ROM (detected fine)

NOTE: This problem does not occur when the kernel is compiled for only
one processor. This seems to be an SMP issue.

Below is my .config file (comments removed). If anyone needs any more
information, I'm on the list.
