I didn't catch the start of this thread. which devices are suspected to show
these lockups ?

I have a DFI-PB5V3+ too (with AMD K6/2-400) and don't have any problem
with this configuration:

00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C598 [Apollo MVP3] (rev 04)
00:01.0 PCI bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C598 [Apollo MVP3 AGP]

00:07.1 IDE interface: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C586 IDE [Apollo] (rev 06)
00:07.2 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C586B USB (rev 02)
00:07.3 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C586B ACPI (rev 10)
00:11.0 VGA compatible controller: S3 Inc. 86C325 [ViRGE] (rev 06)
00:12.0 SCSI storage controller: Symbios Logic Inc. (formerly NCR) 53c815 (rev 04)
00:13.0 Ethernet controller: Digital Equipment Corporation DECchip 21041 [Tulip Pass 3] (rev 21)

plus 3 ISA cards (AHA1542B and 2 serial/parallel cards).
