It's quite common to use 'strings vmlinuz' to find the exact version and build
number of a kernel image, especially when you distribute your built kernel over
NFS and have to be sure that you're not just using the old cached version.
Without this dependency on linux/include/compile.h, much confusion can occur.
The patch applies to both 2.2.12 and 2.3.15
