I saw the same through CSLIP, so this is then a kernel (not HW) problem
(i586/150, UP; gcc-2.95 snapshot for compiling the kernel with
-fno-strict-aliasing). The latest 2.2.10-ac10 and 2.3.11-4 don't show it
AFAIKS, so I filed that away (no time right now to check into kernel
problems).
