Sort of, but then again I can't judge since I haven't played around with
an SGI in a long time.

Well, you can blow media streaming within a uKernel too. It has to do with the
initial design of the stream multiplexing FSes to be able to handle
multipule streaming contexts and not the kernel scheduler.
