I never had this before so I don't know exactly how to handle it. If you
need more info, please do say so.
I (repeatedly) get an Oops 0002 when trying to use the little SCSI card
that came with my Mustek scanner. On the chip it says it is a NCR53c400,
which the g_NCR5380 module claimed to understand. When I modprobe the thing
like
modprobe -v g_NCR5380 ncr_addr=0x280 ncr_53c400=1
(it's the jumpered version, I set the jumper to addr. 0x280), I get a

Oops: 0002
CPU: 0
in the syslog. In all other combinations I just get "dev. or res. busy".
I analyzed this Oops with ksymoops, you can find the output in the
attachment.
After this, the module stays there, like
Module Size Used by
g_NCR5380 17360 1 (uninitialized)
and I am unable to 'rmmod' it. (device or resource busy)
This is Linux 2.2.9 vanilla, on a Debian 2.1 distribution. Oh yes, ksymoops
complains about
Warning in compare_ksyms_lsmod, module g_NCR5380 is in lsmod but
not in ksyms, probably no symbols exported
when I try to debug the thing. I have another SCSI card in my machine, a
Tekram DC-390F working (perfectly) with the NCR53c875 driver. That
shouldn't be a problem, should it? The card is working under Windows, so
it's not a hardware issue (although I never figured out why only the Win3.1
drivers work under 95, not the 95 drivers..)

You did not tell me where to find symbol information. I will assume that the log matches the kernel and modules that are running right now and I'll use the default options above for symbol resolution. If the current kernel and/or modules do not match the log, you can get more accurate output by telling me the kernel version and where to find map, modules, ksyms etc. ksymoops -h explains the options.
