Ok, I think I was being victim of the Probe All Luns + Par-IDE bug.... I
this found info somewhere in the web (A how-to about cd burning with
Linux), and, disabling Probe All Luns In Each SCSI device solved the
problem here.

Sorry for the waste of bandwidth.
